Sridhar Veluvolu
Dr. Veluvolu is a boarded veterinary oncologist and post-doctoral researcher at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). He was in the laboratory of Dr. Patrick Grohar from 2022-2024, after which he moved to Dr. Adam Wolpaw’s lab. He has been learning how to drug oncogenic transcription factors (TFs) in the contexts of Ewing sarcoma (EWS-FLI1), neuroblastoma (MycN), and osteosarcoma (cMyc). TFs are proteins that have been notoriously difficult to target due to their inherent lack of structure and broad functions to maintain baseline physiology. He is employing molecular pharmacological techniques to understand how dysregulated disease-specific TFs affect tumorigenesis, cell state/plasticity, and immune infiltration. He hopes to leverage this information to derive novel therapies for childhood and veterinary cancers alike.
In addition to his research responsibilities, he spends one day a week on clinics at VRC Malvern.
